Success Stories

Cynders Way (Cindy)
We were approached by the owner of a local livery yard late in 2010 to see if we would take a former racehorse that had come into her care. Cindy was not in a good way, she had been bought from the horse sales to save her from the meat man. She had had a foal and once weaned the mare was now of no use. The livery yard owner intervened as she was turned away with snow on the ground and very little if no hay to eat. To say that she was thin was an understatement.
Cindy came into New Beginnings in January 2011, with time and a considerable amount of care she put on weight and the ulcer on her leg healed.
Cindy has been rehomed and is again enjoying her life with a lady who loves her and enjoys nothing more than hacking around the country roads.

Dr Jameson (Doc)
Doc came to us in early 2012. He had been a reasonable racehorse having his only win at Beverley, with two 2nd places and 1 third. His last race was on the 17th December 2009.
Doc had been rehomed straight from racing to a very experienced lady, but unfortunately, she found that she could not keep him as she also had another horse. The lady rehomed him, that home did not work out and after three weeks they gave up and contacted us as they could not manage him.
Doc was initially challenging as he would not stand near the mounting block and often panicked when you mounted. Doc also liked a busy yard with lots going on and worried if it was too quiet.
Doc found a lovely new mum and is now loving life and enjoying his second career.

"As a small breeder of thoroughbreds and an owner of racehorses I am proud to be a Patron of New Beginnings. As a horsewoman myself, I can fully endorse the care and empathy shown to these magnificent horses. The dedication, passion and commitment given by Pam and Kevin to the welfare of all the horses in their care is second to none. The Racing Industry is lucky to have their support."
